La Cocina
La Cocina was transformed into its final three-dimensional representation through a multifaceted process that merged digital and analog techniques. By deconstructing the layered surface of the original painting with generative digital functions, the project extracted the underlying conceptual and compositional logic to create dynamic topographies—termed generative terrains. This approach, inspired by Bryan Cantley’s emphasis on understanding design as a performance rather than a static product, involved detailed diagramming of formal hierarchies, figure/ground relationships, and spatial transitions. The integration of digital analysis with traditional hand drafting and model making fostered a hybrid workflow, ultimately evolving La Cocina from a two-dimensional image into a rich, spatial construct.
